School Dinners
If providing your child with a packed lunch, please ensure it is a healthy meal. Squash is allowed at lunchtime only.
Alternatively, a school dinner can be purchased for £2.65 per day.
Changes to dinner arrangements need to be given two weeks in advance, in person, to the Office.
Dinner money should be paid on a Monday morning. This can be paid either weekly, monthly or even termly.
We can not extend credit and ask anyone who has outstanding dinner money to come and speak to us regarding repayment of this debt. We will follow our Debt Policy procedures and referring to Lovett's Solicitors for collection of outstanding monies if necessary.
Could your child receive free school meals from September 2026?
From September 2026, more children will be able to receive a free meal at school. This is because free school meal eligibility is expanding to include children from households receiving Universal Credit.
Many more families may now be eligible to apply, so we are asking you to come and collect a form from the school office to fill in if you think that this applies to you. It is worth applying. It could save your family money each week and help make sure your child has a hot, healthy meal in school each day.
If your child will be in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 from September 2026 they will receive a free school meal automatically, under the universal infant free school meals scheme.
However, if your household receives Universal Credit or another qualifying benefit anyway, please fill in the form to apply as we will have to record this in a different way on our system. Please come and collect a form from our school office and fill it in if any of these apply to you:
- Your household receives Universal Credit.
- Your household receives another qualifying benefit (support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999).
- Your child receives a free meal because they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 but your household receives Universal Credit or another qualifying benefit.
- Your child currently receives free school meals but you are not sure whether they will be eligible from September 2026.
- Your circumstances have changed and you think your child may now be eligible.
Households may be eligible, and it is worth applying if:
- You are in receipt of income related Employment and Support Allowance.
- You receive the guarantee element of Pension Credit.
- You meet the criteria set out in separate guidance for families with no recourse to public funds (See HERE for further details)
You do not need to work out whether your child qualifies. You only need to complete the form, and we will use the eligibility check to do the rest.
Your child will not be treated any differently in school. There is no difference in lunchtime routines for those entitled to free meals. They are not identified. Information shared as part of any application is handled sensitively and only used to check eligibility. Your child will only be eligible once an application has been completed and an eligibility check completed by school.
If you are unsure whether to apply or need further clarification, please come and talk to us. We are happy to help.
Healthy School Lunch
Every pupil in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 is now eligible for free school meals.
The Government has decided that schools must offer a healthy school lunch to all infant pupils in England from September this year. This is a vital and important change that will significantly improve children's health and their attainment.
For more information on this scheme, visit www.schoolfoodplan.com
We ask that all parents fill in the school meals registration form. This is important so that we can continue to register pupils who attract pupil premium, which is worth £1,480 a year per pupil for our school.
You can download the registration form for free school meals and information below.
