Grendon Voice

Welcome to our NEW Grendon media hub! The Grendon Voice is where you will find all the news for the children, from the children!

There is always so much going on at Grendon... and who better to tell you about it than the children themselves! The budding writers, presenters and creators have decided they want to practise their Grendon Goal of 'Effective Communication' and here is a way to do it!

Junior Journalists - News of the Week!

Monday 9th March 2026
By Junior Journalists Arfa, Momina and Zain

AMAZING LEARNING!

Year 5 have been experimenting with dissolving and used skittles to show how water dissolved the colouring.

JJ said, "We did an experiment to see if skittles dissolved in water. We placed them on the outside of a plate and a little bit of water and then the colour started dissolving off the skittles into the middle. It ended up looking like tomato soup!"

GETTING TO KNOW YOU!

Every week we will try to interview a member of staff. This week we spoke to Mrs. Shea, and asked her about why she likes working at school, "I enjoy how every day is different and brings new challenges that we can overcome. I really love seeing happy children around school". When asked for an interesting fact, Mrs. Shea revealed, "I was nearly born on February 29th, which would have made me only have a birthday every four years!"

FACT ATTACK!

A quick break down of some of the facts of the week!

3C scored the highest attendance of the week with 98%

Lewis are currently leading the race for the House Cup with 698pts!

Each week we will also report on those children who have put in a very special effort to get in to EXCEPTIONAL, it's really hard to achieve! This week we have one person who managed it; Momina!

COMING UP!

There's always so much happening at Grendon, so we want to shine a light on some of the things that happen.

Later in March, Year 6 will be visiting RAF Cosford to find out about World War II and look at some of the planes that were used in battle.

Remember, each class page (HERE) will tell you everything that is coming up for the year group this year.

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

We've been raiding the amazing Grendon library to find the best books to read and will recommend a different one each week.

This week, for KS1, we think The Drama Llama, by Rachel Morrisroe is an amazing book! Alex Allen, like lots of children, sometimes worried about things – like dancing badly or getting an answer wrong in class. But unlike lots of children, every time he worries, a real-life llama appears! And the more Alex worries, the bigger Llama grows... which starts getting him into all sorts of trouble! It's very funny and heart-warming.

In KS2, we think A Tale Dark and Grimm, by Adam Gidwiz, is another brilliant book. But, reader: beware! Warlocks with dark spells, hunters with deadly aim, and bakers with ovens retrofitted for cooking children lurk within these pages.
But if you dare, turn the page and learn the true story of Hansel and Gretel – the story behind (and beyond) the bread crumbs, edible houses and outwitted witches!

CLUB REPORTS

Our list of clubs is growing ever longer! However, we sometimes aren't exactly sure what children are doing in them, so we've been investigating...

Momina has been in Basketball Club, "We enjoy playing basketball, where Mr. Groves has been teaching us good shooting skills this week. We've been thinking about the space we are in and thinking whether shooting or passing is the best idea."

AND FINALLY...

In breaking news, later in the week, we discovered that the Royal Ballet had been at Grendon to visit the children in Year 1! They had great fun learning some skills and some children were even offered the opportunity to carry on training with the group outside school time. Well done!

See you next week!

There are several ways we are going to be sharing our stories with you, starting with our Junior Journalists who will be producing a weekly catch-up on everything going on around Grendon. There will be interviews, news and facts to entertain every week. If you have a story you want to share, then make sure you speak to them!

The Podcasts

Our first podcasts are coming soon!

Next up, as part of one of the many clubs we have running, we would like to share some of our podcasts with you. Mr. Norris has been working very hard with the children to produce these, and they are a first for Grendon Primary School!

We Can Magazine

WE CAN Magazine 2024

(please note this site may have adverts that are outside our control - if you would like a PDF version, that can be found at the bottom of the page)

Finally, as part of World Book Day a couple of years ago, all the children in school produced a brilliant 'We Can' magazine. It was too amazing to forget, so we've included it on these pages, and it can be read just like a flip-book! Who knows, if you really like it, maybe we'll have a new version in the future.
